Somatic Yoga

A practice for people who spend a little too much time in their heads.

Live & Online · 60 minutes · Small group · Recording available

Somatic Yoga is a soft yet deeply energising and releasing practice.

Blending somatic tools such as breathwork, tapping, shaking and others with flowing yoga asanas, these classes invite you to better understand and connect with your body, supporting nervous system regulation, releasing physical tension and creating space for energy to move more freely.

Each 60-minute session is designed as a journey through your inner state, helping you move from the busyness of your mind towards greater body awareness, presence, and regulation.

The focus isn't on doing the perfect pose. It's on learning to listen to the person inside it.

THIS SPACE IS FOR YOU IF YOU...

  • Feel like you're constantly "ON", even when you finally have time to rest.

  • Notice stress or tension in your body but aren't always sure how to deal with it.

  • Struggle to recognise a true yes or no in your body when faced with a choice.

  • Find it difficult to slow down without feeling restless or like you should be doing something.

  • Want to become more aware of the signals your body gives you before you reach the point of overwhelm.

  • Want to move your body without feeling like you need to perform, push or achieve anything.

  • Enjoy stronger yoga practices like Vinyasa or Ashtanga, but sometimes want something that leaves you feeling more grounded.

  • Enjoy slower practices like Yin, but sometimes want a little more movement and flow.

  • Feel curious about somatic practices and want to learn simple tools you can also use outside your yoga practice for self-regulation.

You don't need any previous experience with somatic practices to join.

Everything is guided, and you're always encouraged to adapt the practice to what feels right for you.

This month in Somatic Yoga

This October, we're exploring self-trust.

Not only as something we think or tell ourselves, but as something we can practise through the relationship we build with our bodies.Learning to notice. Learning to recognise our own signals, needs and limits.

And learning to listen to ourselves more deeply. Each week we'll explore a different layer of this theme.

Hi! I'm Catarina Amaral,

I'm a Yoga Teacher and Life Coach.

Somatic practices and nervous system regulation are just some of the tools I use in my work, and they entered my life in 2025, during a time when I was experiencing a lot of anxiety and a very dysregulated nervous system, feeling extreme physical and mental exhaustion.

I was struggling with insomnia, an exhaustion that wouldn’t go away, a lot of muscle tension, and many days I could feel my heart jumping out of my chest in a way I thought at any time I could have a heart attack.

And the practices that had always supported me — yoga, meditation and journaling, which I still use daily — weren't enough to help me move through what I was experiencing at that time.

That's when I started looking for different tools that could support me, and that's how I discovered somatic practices.

I had spent years learning how to work with the body through yoga, but somatics helped me discover a different way of listening.

I started to understand that many of the sensations I was experiencing weren't something I needed to fight or get rid of.

They were information.

I began to understand that anxiety isn't necessarily the enemy. It's a signal that something in your life needs your attention.

And the more I practised, the more I realised how powerful it can be to understand what our bodies are communicating, and that we can learn to respond to those signals before they build up into overwhelm and exhaustion.

Since then, I've continued studying somatic practices and integrating them into my private sessions, retreats and workshops.

I believe these practices can be incredibly valuable tools for supporting our wellbeing and developing a deeper relationship with ourselves.

These classes are an extension of that work.

A space where we don't just move the body.

We learn to listen to it.
